Oklahoma’s volleyball community has rallied with remarkable enthusiasm behind the U.S. women’s national team as they prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The Sooner State, with its established collegiate programs and expanding youth development systems, has positioned itself as an increasingly important contributor to the nationwide quest for Olympic gold through player development, coaching innovation, and passionate fan support.

The state’s volleyball dedication was evident during the national team’s training camp in Oklahoma City this January, where capacity crowds at the Paycom Center witnessed exhibition matches against Brazil. The enthusiastic turnout highlighted Oklahoma’s growing appreciation for volleyball excellence and its commitment to supporting Olympic ambitions.

Current national team member Alyssa Enneking, whose versatility has become increasingly valuable to the American system, developed her skills during her collegiate career in Oklahoma.

“The volleyball environment in Oklahoma shaped my approach to the game,” Enneking noted during community events in Tulsa. “The competitive atmosphere here emphasizes both defensive discipline and offensive creativity, qualities that translate effectively to international competition.”

Youth participation has surged across Oklahoma since the announcement of the Los Angeles Olympics, with the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association reporting a 15% increase in volleyball registration during the 2024-2025 academic year. Club programs throughout the state have similarly experienced record growth, particularly in the Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman metropolitan areas.

The state’s connection to the Olympic program extends beyond player development, with several support staff members having Oklahoma ties.
