Tragedy Strikes Halloween Party in Southeast Oklahoma City
What began as a night of celebration ended in tragedy in southeast Oklahoma City early Sunday morning. A Halloween party turned deadly when violence broke out, leaving two people dead and one injured at a trailer park near SE 57th and S Foster.
Police Respond to Disturbance and Gunfire
According to Master Sergeant Rob Robertson of the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers were called to the scene just after 1 a.m. The initial report described a disturbance with shots fired. Upon arrival, police found evidence of gunfire and chaotic activity in the neighborhood.
Neighbor Recounts Frightening Ordeal
Neighbors described the event as terrifying. Sandra Downey, a resident whose home was struck by a stray bullet, likened the experience to something out of a "bad Halloween movie." She recounted the chaos of the night, recalling, "It was just sounded like girls yelling and screaming at somebody, and then a dog barking and then I heard gunshots." Downey only discovered the bullet hole in her bathroom the next morning.
Sequence of Violence: Shooting and Vehicle Attack
Police say that during the altercation, a man was shot and transported to the hospital. His condition remains unknown. The violence continued when, moments after the shooting, an individual reportedly got into a car and struck two people, killing both. Master Sergeant Rob Robertson confirmed, "During this altercation that occurred, somebody got into a vehicle and struck two individuals. They were both deceased."
Ongoing Investigation and Community Concerns
As police arrived shortly after the incidents, homicide investigators were deployed to the scene. Multiple individuals have been detained while authorities work to piece together the events of the night. "Right now, homicide investigators are on the scene, and we’re just trying to get everything sorted out. Right now, we have multiple individuals detained," Robertson stated.
Neighbors Left Unsettled
The community is still reeling from the recent violence. "Now I’m frightened. I just keep on looking like, what’s next?" said Downey. The Oklahoma City Police Department has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
